The accident reportedly took place around 10 a.m. on a recent Saturday when a vehicle suddenly crossed into an oncoming lane and crashed into a truck. Authorities say the vehicle proceeded to travel in the wrong lane and struck a van, and a fourth car was apparently unable to stop in time and also struck the van. According to reports, there were nine individuals involved in the collision, two of whom were pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Numerous others were airlifted to the hospital for treatment of injuries following the accident. Although an investigation into the incident is underway, the reason the first vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic is unclear.
