Dangers of Ohio car accidents: Crash seriously injures young teen

by | Jan 11, 2017 | Car Accidents

Any motor vehicle accident is upsetting, even when no one involved is injured. Car accidents involving a child, however, are especially frightening. Thankfully, the young Ohio girl who was struck by a car on the morning of Jan. 4 was not killed in the collision, though she did apparently suffer serious injury.

The 13-year-old middle schooler was struck at around 7:15 a.m. on a Wednesday morning. A sedan was traveling south and hit the girl less than a mile from her school. It is unclear at this time whether the student was attempting to cross the intersection via the crosswalk when the crash occurred.

The girl was initially transported by medics to Grady Hospital in Delaware. She was subsequently transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment. Her injuries have been described by the police captain as very serious.

Officers report that the driver of the car did stop at the scene and cooperate with officers. An investigation into the crash in ongoing. If fault on the part of the driver is apparent, the parents of the girl who was struck may choose to seek legal counsel to file a personal injury suit. Those in Ohio who have been injured in car accidents due to the fault or negligence of another have the right to contact an attorney and explore their legal options. Monetary damages awarded in a successfully presented personal injury lawsuit can be used toward expenses like medical bills, lost wages, and the pain and suffering experienced by the crash victim.
