When a car accident leaves a child injured, the last thing on the minds of most parents is the cost of any life-saving medical treatments. They are simply grateful that their children survived. However, the reality of the matter is that, in the aftermath of an accident and all the resulting medical care necessary, the health care bills can be astronomical. It is in situations like these that a personal injury lawsuit may prove not only beneficial but almost essential.
An example of such an occurrence happened only recently in Ohio. An 11 a.m. collision left two young children severely injured, according to a media release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The children, 3 and 4 years old, were taken to two separate medical centers for treatment.
According to troopers, the accident occurred when the father of the two children was driving south on Ohio State Route 109. A truck operated by a 24-year-old was traveling west when the driver failed to yield at a stop sign. The truck collided with the car, sending both vehicles off the road until they came to a stop in a field.
The children’s mother, who was riding in the front seat of the car, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Thankfully, the couple’s older children, 8 and 9 years old, were uninjured in the collision. However, the younger children’s serious injuries will undoubtedly result in mounting costs as they struggle to recover from the accident. Anyone dealing with a similar circumstance in Ohio can consult an attorney with experience in personal injury litigation.
