The mechanics of a crash are often the easiest part of any investigation. Determining what factors contributed to the crash may take more time, and may be particularly elusive in some cases. Understanding the causes of car accidents often helps officials here in Ohio, and across the rest of the country, figure out what efforts they may employ in order to lower their number.
A recent crash that occurred here in Ohio will more than likely be one that takes a bit more time to determine the factors that led to it. This is because the driver believed to have caused the crash died of the injuries the 18-year-old suffered in the impact. The two other people involved were both in the other vehicle.
All that is known at this time is that the deceased driver’s vehicle strayed across the centerline and struck the oncoming vehicle occupied by the two victims. The 42-year-old driver of the unsuspecting vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken from the scene in a helicopter. His 25-year-old passenger’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, but she was taken to an area hospital.
Recoveries can take a significant amount of time during which the victims may incur substantial medical expenses, lost wages and other compensable damages. The victims of this crash may not yet know what factors led to the other driver straying over the centerline, but that may be enough to take to an Ohio civil court. It may be possible to obtain restitution for the financial losses and other damages associated with car accidents of this type through the successful navigation of personal injury claims against the deceased driver’s estate and possibly others.
