A lack of experience leads to many serious car accidents

Driving is not something that someone can master by reading a book or getting behind the wheel one time. It takes years to gain an appropriate understanding of how a vehicle operates, along with its tolerances, when driving. Without this requisite experience, many unnecessary and serious car accidents occur here in Ohio and elsewhere.

Teenagers are the largest group of drivers who lack the experience needed in order to consistently drive safely. In fact, it is possible that a limited amount of experience driving could have led to a serious accident that recently took place here in Ohio. The crash occurred at around 6:40 p.m. on a Thursday evening.

Preliminary reports regarding the crash indicate that the 18-year-old driver somehow lost control of the vehicle. It then careened off the roadway and practically wrapped around a tree into which it slammed. A 16-year-old in the vehicle succumbed to fatal injuries there at the scene. The driver and two other teens in the vehicle when it crashed suffered injuries only described as “critical,” for which they were transported to a hospital in the area.

The three survivors more than likely face significant recoveries that will probably include a substantial amount of medical care both during hospitalization and after. As they do in other serious car accidents, those expenses could quickly add up, and if any of them had a job at the time of the accident, they could lose their source of income. The passengers, and the family of the deceased passenger, may pursue restitution from the party deemed at fault. An award of damages from an Ohio civil court could help cover the costs of current and future medical and other care needed, depending on the types and severity of the injuries suffered.
